Penny's Quilt

I finished 1 of the 2 quilts that I am making for two of my great nieces. I've opted to quilt the smaller quilt and have someone else prepare the larger quilt for quilting. Quilting takes up a lot of room - the prep that is - you need floor space without rugs or dogs, where you can lay out 3 layers of cloth/batting, flat and undisturbed. I can manage baby sized quilts on my table, but anything larger - forget it.
This quilt uses Joel Dewberry's Aviary 2 fabric line (and, as a friend of mine says, "these days if you want to make something cute, just throw a bird on it" :)). The back of the quilt has the birdie fabric while the front is made up of triangles where the bird motif just didn't manage to stay intact.
Tricky to quilt on my sewing machine, but I got it done at long last.
and the bacK (in retrospect i should have made the label span the band but oh well...)

Oh how I love this quilt and the fabric of choice!
